At the very moment we were beginning to give up hope to find one of the few flujometros ever imported on South American territory, the improbable happened: Gustavo Sr. found one!
Hard to imagine the amount of joy a silly piece of mechanical engineering can bring (but the smiles on our faces tell it all :) ! Does that mean Pepe is back on the road? Nah, not yet, as we can only hope (and trust our Bolivian mechanic Walter) that a defective flujometro is the actual problem... but at least we have a silver sparkle of hope in our hands!
Gustavo and Julie breathe a sigh of relief: after having enjoyed their hospitality to the fullest extent, it is finally time for us to hit the road... with a mission: bring the flujometro to Pepe (oh, you did not think one could simply send the part to Bolivia without it being stuck in customs for weeks, right?)
So we dig deep in our sabbatical pockets, and get a fancy rental SUV for the next 12 days:
